The challenge for ABC Wednesday this week was the letter O. I had a whole list of O's but no pictures to go with them. I talked to Josh about writing an "obituary" for Nemo, so he has decided to help me out. ABC Wednesday can be more than pictures, so I am taking creative liberties with this one.

Ode to Nemo
By Josh
By Josh
(To the rhyme scheme of the Raven by Edgar Allan Poe)
Ah, distinctly I remember,
It was in the bleak September,
And each helpful pet store member, paced and scurried ‘cross the floor.
For we’d come to buy a Nemo,
Though unlikely it might seem-o,
(The U of M game set on Teevo), to make this our Saturday chore.
Little Annie squealed and giggled,
Out from my arms she wriggled,
And Nemo swam and wiggled, when he saw our bright-eyed gal,
“Nemo! Nemo!” she said excited,
When first that fish was sighted,
The fish was brightly lighted—orange and white from head to tail.
We bought him—it was late,
Took him home to acclimate,
Was he family, or bait? He looked shocked and forlorn,
We set him in a room,
Next to the chairs and broom,
Where he’d meet untimely doom, and from our hearts be torn.
One day the tank was greening,
And I knew it needed cleaning,
So I did so, gently gleaning nasty gunk from off the side,
Then replaced the decoration,
When I saw with some frustration,
That with little provocation, our small hermit crabs had died.
‘Twas not a week from hence,
That at Nemo’s expense,
(I won’t leave you in suspense) our new friend had followed suit,
He looked slightly askew,
When I looked up close I knew,
So we bid our friend adieu, and our pain was quite acute.
Nemo, we will miss you,
In our hearts we hug and kiss you,
And have used more than one tissue, mourning your untimely fate,
For our daughter’s heart you’ve broken,
Leaving nothing as a token,
But this poem so aptly spoken, will your memory relate.

very good!!! does annabelle know yet???
Josh are you in the right business? You should be writing!
Will Annabelle get another Nemo?Did you give Nemo a proper burial?
O-some post! You found Nem-O!
Very creative!! An excelent post.
An Original Obituary to Nemo.
Well done.
Bear((( )))
Yes we did give him a proper burial, by which I mean we flushed him :-). (The last line of the next to last stanza was going to be "So I flushed him down the chute." That seemed heartless though. We'll prob. get another sometime.

Awww poor Nemo :( Very good poem tho!
OH MY GOSH! This was so good. I mean GREAT! This was msy favorite O of the week, and it is not because you are three of my favorite people on the planet either : ). Well, maybe a little because of that! Really great PO post! Sadly, every pet I have ever gotten Kaish has died. Fish used to go like crazy. How did Annabelle handle it?
I just called Kaish and Gary downstairs to listen to this. Kaishon is sad for Annabelle. Gary thinks Josh is a good writer. Gary is also jealous that you have tivo. Kaish just said, "I am glad you got me out of bed to hear this Mommy : )."
Hahaha.. awesome Becky; thanks for sharing! I'm glad Kaish found it worth his while!

That was GREAT! you are a wonderful writers. I reminds me of all the poems like that that you have written, (uncle Dean also)
THe two goldfish that we got you and Em (named Brian and Debby) lived YEARS, we could not believe it. Anyway I hope Annabelle is OK with all this.
