Galling Gingerbread House

Galling means upsetting for those of you may be wondering.

Well again in efforts to create family traditions with Annabelle, I failed again! My Mom gave us a Gingerbread House kit for Christmas and I thought what fun! Last night Church was canceled so I thought after dinner would be the peferct time for the family to make it. Now I've never made a Gingerbread House before, so you would assume that we would read all the directions first, as they say to, but oh no! I got so excited to start that we decided to read the directions as we went along.

Well we started about 7pm. Everything started out great. We got Annabelle in her seat, we made the frosting as directed, and started putting the house together. As we went along, we realized first how difficult it is to get those walls to stay together. Secondly, it was going to take 30 minutes for the walls to set, and then another hour for the roof to set! Which by this time, Annabelle was done! She was tired and ready for bed! So we put her to bed and upon coming back our roof had fallen! LOL....many times Josh and I almost gave up, but we finally finished it at around 10 pm! It was definetly a memory and it was great bonding time for Josh and I, even thought Annabelle missed the fun decorating part!

Daddy preparing the bag for the frosting
Mommy putting the frosting tip in the bag
Annabelle being happy Annabelle,
as Mom fills the bag
Daddy trying to get the house to stay together

So to those of you who make such beautiful gingerbread houses (SHANNON) I applaud you! Seriously! It takes coordination, time, and talent (those windows are a lot harder to make than it looks)!
The finished product!
Look at the right window! LOL!

That is so funny! See you made a memory! I'm glad for the heads up on this project, we didn't start ours yet! I love how Annabelle is sitting so patiently! Oh and make sure you eat the gingerbread house! Let me know if it's tasty! Thursday begins the "12 Days of Christmas!" so glad you are doing this with Annabelle and Josh!
Love,
Mom
