Monthly Milestones

Annabelle is 15 months old! Here are some new things she did in her 14th month.

This month we've seen a huge leap in her level of understanding. She knows what we are saying to her and has a great memory. She holds objects up and wants us to tell her what they are.

The dress Grandpa and Grandma put in her Easter Basket

1. On Sunday, March 2nd she got promoted at church to the Toddler Nursery. I know it doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but she has been with our dear, loving nursery workers for 14 months and is now walking so well they had to promote her! We are excited to get to know the new nursery workers!

2. She can show you her belly, and point to her belly button. It always involves lifting up her shirt and she loves that! LOL!

3. New Signs: "HELP". This has come in handy so she is not frustrated when she needs something. "Banana", she likes this one. "Yes" which is an easy one.

4. She has learned to zip and unzip. We put her nebulizer medicine in this cute little zip pouch and teaching her became a GREAT distraction while we gave her treatments twice a day!

5. More new foods she likes are beans (black and kidney!), jello, peaches, and green beans (the last two she hated for awhile, but I kept trying!)

6. She can point to her teeth and likes to try and brush them. She gets to go second in the brushing...after Mommy! She now has 8 teeth, that is 2 more this month!

7. She can crawl down the steps backwards.

8. She attempts to use things the correct way, such as a brush on her hair, a pen on paper, putting a sock or jacket or shirt on and a fork in her mouth, but isn't always quite successful.

9. New words: Duck, deer, ball, bye-bye (JUST TODAY!)

10. She kisses with her mouth closed now (kindof sad!)

She is 21 lbs (she actually lost a pound) and 29 inches (she's been this since 13 months).

Walking Weather....Finally!

Well, today was finally nice enough that I could take Annabelle outside for a walk. She loved the cool breeze on her face, and I loved that she got to use her new sunglasses and didn't try AT ALL to take them off!!
Annabelle and Mommy home after the walk

This tired her out

These are a few shots from our afternoon together!
(Aunt Jen Duff got her the shirt...thanks!)

Resurrection (Cookie) Recipe

We started a new tradition for Annabelle, something I remember doing when my little sisters were younger. We made Resurrection cookies the night before Easter! Click on the link to see the actual recipe in full detail. (We substituted chocolate chunks instead of pecans.)

Easter Sunday

AMEN! He arose!! We started the morning EARLY with Josh preaching at the 7am Easter Sunrise Service, then we went to the Easter Breakfast at church, came home in between to open Easter baskets then back to church for the regular morning service. It is on days like Easter we are glad we live next door to the church! After church, we headed over to Uncle Dan and Aunt Donna's and had Easter dinner with the Mosher/McKelvey clan. As always it was a fabulous meal and a very relaxing afternoon. Annabelle got a total of 4 Easter baskets, this kids is loved.

Pastor Josh's Parody on Prejudice

At Youth Group on Wednesday Josh taught on the issue of prejudice. Some don't realize that the Bible has a lot to say about such contemporary issues! Back in the Old Testament book of Numbers Chapter 12 verses 1-10 tells the whole story of how Miriam and Aaron were prejudice against Moses' wife and how God dealt with them. Josh ended the night with a parody to the tune of American Pie and the teens LOVED it!! They went nuts screaming and yelling at the end, but we didn't get that on the video! Enjoy these short clips!

Here are the entire lyrics in case you wanted to know:

A long, long time ago on his way to Canaan,
Moses wed a dark skinned Cushite lass.
His siblings, questioning his choice, spoke out against him in one voice:
"Our brother's days of leadership have passed."

So Aaron said, "God made me priest, in charge of sacrifice and feast.
With all the rights that he's go. He isn't such a big shot."
And miriam with tambourine, thought she was a worship queen.
"If he's to lead and to inspire,
He needs me and my choir."

They started singing,

Chorus:
"So bye, bye to our brother Mo's bride."
Now Miriam and Aaron--what they did wasn't bright.
Don't you judge someone 'cause their skin isn't right,
'Cause you foolishly sin in God's sight.
You foolishly sin in God's sight.

God called to all three and so, Aaron and Miriam and Mo,
Gathered in the Meeting Tent.
The Lord came down in a great big cloud, and spoke his Holy words aloud,
And this is how the conference went:

"Well your prejudice is hard to take. Judging Moses' wife is a big mistake.
You're really out of place. I speak to Moses face to face."
And from God's words the siblings knew, they had to learn a thing or two,
About folks different from me and you, and what they mean to God.

And they stopped singing,

(CHORUS)

Now in a flash the meeting's done, and who could doubt the Lord had won,
Seeing Miriam's face to white?
Aaron cried, "I see it's a sin, because God makes a person's skin,
Whatever shade He thinks is right."

Our God we ask to be aquitted, of the hateful sin that we've committed.
Forgive our foolish pride, we want to be on your side!
We know that prejudice is more than rude. It's such a stinky attitude,
'Cause You want to call a multitude, from every nation and tribe...

Who won't be singing,

(Chorus)

Bedtime Trial and Triumph

The TRIAL--
We always laugh at the way Annabelle sleeps! Here she started the night free as a bird and woke up as a jail bird! How she managed this I guess we'll never know!

The Triumph ---
Finally we caught her going off the bed backwards! This is a very short video!
