Savings by Shannon

Well this week, I gave Shannon $10 and some coupons to see how much stuff she could get Annabelle at Giant Eagle. You will never believe it!! She purchased 36 items: graduate meals, 3 spill proof cups, throw away cups, baby plates, baby food, finger foods, cereal, and diapers. The total for the items came to $91.53. Shannon payed, get this.....$6.91!! She saved over 92%. I have the receipt to prove it!! I tried to take a picture of it, but it wouldn't turn out!!!

WAY TO GO SHANNON!!! THANK YOU!

Blogging for Britt

The other day I was on the phone with Britt, my sister, and I was putting Annabelle in the grocery cart for the first time. She told me I should take a picture, so today I happen to have my camera with me when we were at the store! Annabelle LOVES sitting in the cart! She is so curious; she loves looking around the store. The other day, as the lady was scanning stuff it was beeping and Annabelle started laughing as the items were scanned!! It was too cute. She never saw that before because she was always in her car seat!

This is after our shopping trip at Wal-mart.

Motown Meltdown

Last night (8/27) 45 of us set out for the annual Tigers Game/New School Year Kick-Off here at Jasper Bible Church. (This year they just happened to be playing the Yankees :-). The night was borderline disastrous in more ways than one! About 45 min. down the road, our 8-vehicle caravan came to a stop, and the vehicle directly behind our last vehicle rear-ended Dan's truck, as you can see. It hit with enough force to send the truck (which was a Suburban loaded w/ people!) a foot in the air and into Brian's Dodge Ram. Besides the lady in the car sustaining some mild injuries, nobody was hurt--thank God! After another 45 minutes of giving accident reports and making sure everyone was okay, we shuffled some people around and were able to find enough space (with seat belts!) for all the teens to continue to Detroit. The Moshers, Hess's and Fankhausers stayed behind with the disabled vehicles. Miraculously, we managed to make it to our seats before the first pitch! The Moshers, Hess's and Fankhausers made it there by the second inning!

The Tigers had the game of their franchise history (at least it seemed like it). Every hit and defensive play seemed to go their way. Meanwhile, the Yanks posted a goose-egg (thanks for showing up guys). My Yankees rally-cap was misinterpreted as my being ashamed of the ol' Bronx Bombers. Nothing could be further from the truth. Besides, as we all know, Torre was letting the boys rest up for this week's series against the Sauwx. All-in-all, the night was enjoyed by everyone with a "D" on their hat--which I supposed means "mission accomplished." Here's the Reader's Digest version:

45 Tickets to Comerica Park bought in May..........$675
8 Parking Spots in Detroit.......................................$120
1 Removal of a Suburban from atop of car.............$150
1 Lengthy Repair of said Suburban.........................$5,000
Setting the stage for next year's shelling of the Tigers (by NYY, of course)...PRICELESS!

The truck was dangerously close to rolling into the ditch!

If Dan hadn't tried to get off the road before the collision, we were told it would have been much worse.

Adventurous Annabelle

Annabelle is turning out to be very adventurous! The past couple of days while we are in Josh's office she'll crawl to the door and look out. Well she finally has decided to go out the door and have a look around! We thought that the hardwood floors would deter her, apparently not! She is fascinated by the bathroom. That is always the first room she wants to crawl in, of course we stop her before she gets in. Here she is tonight going on her last adventure before bed!

There I go from Dad's office into the bathroom!
Mommy ever so GENTLY closing the door
to keep me out :-(
OH MAN, you closed the door on me!

No where left to go but back in Dad's office

Beach Bums

Yesterday my dear friend, Melissa, invited us to the beach with her other teacher friends. We had such a great time talking shop (teacher stuff) and sharing some of our life stories. They were such a blessing and encouragement for me to be around. It was the last big hurrah before school starts for all of them! I forgot my digital camera so I've bummed these pictures off of one of the ladies blog site and will add more when Melissa sends them to me. :-)

We went to Killarney Lutheran Campground
(You can see the beach and the lake in the background)

Annabelle had her first taste of Watermelon!
She went, "Mmmm" after every bite!
It was hilarious!

Precious Power

Last night after a fabulous dinner with our friends, Chip and Cassie, we came home to a power outage! You seriously don't realize how precious your power is until you don't have it. At first we thought it would go on before we went to bed, but we soon realized that it was going to be hours. It was so tough you'd find your self hitting light switches and having to walk around with a candle. it made me very thankful that we live in the 21 Century! We all ended up sleeping in the TV room, because without air conditioning it is the coolest room in the house! Poor Annabelle had a 103 temperature before bed! It was so hard, not to have air for her! We were thankful that the water was still working because we were able to sponged her down even though she hated it! She woke up this morning without a temp, but had a hard time eating. I am hoping she is not dehydrated. She hasn't been drinking very much lately!

Here were our living quarters last night!
If you look close, you can see Annabelle in her pack n play!

Green Bay Baby!!

Josh's sister, Emily, for our baby shower bought Annabelle this jersey! Daddy decided, as he always does when I go to work and he gets to dress her, that she will wear a sporty outfit! But today is special since it is the Green Bay Packers first game on TV that we get to see!! In fact, this is their first game we will get to see since Annabelle was born, which was the Packers last game of their 2006 season! We thought at the time it was going to be Brett Farve's last game, but lucky for US it wasn't! Here are my two adorable fans! Go Packers!

Baby Food Feast!!!

Shannon, Josh's cousin, came over tonight and showered us with baby food for Annabelle. She goes to this Grocery Store in Toledo that allows her to double coupons and even double dip on coupons for baby food and products! Anyway, she is quite the DEAL Queen as you can see!!!! We are so thankful for her gracious and generous gift!! I think there should be a TV show where people get money and see how much they can buy with that money! Shannon would for sure win!! We are taking bets on how long this will last us...any guesses? :-) THANK YOU SHANNON!!!

This is the full length of our pantry.
It use to have other things in it,
now it is all baby food!!

Annabelle's Appointment

Today we went to the hospital to get two tests done to see if Annabelle had Vesicoureteral Reflux. The first test they performed was an ultrasound, and besides being a little wiggly she did rather well. The second test which actually diagnosed the reflux is called a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG), which is an X-ray of the bladder. She didn't even cry or fuss when they put the catheter in, which the nurse said was the most painful part, but she did not like it when they had to strap her down. It was tough, but I knew it was going to help us find out whether or not she had this. You could see the dye they injected her bladder with flow up to her little kidney. The Doctor was really helpful explaining everything, and showing me that she for sure had it on her left side. He isn't sure yet if it is a stage 2 or stage 3. Higher grades of reflux are associated with greater risk of kidney damage. However, since we've caught it before she got another UTI and has been on antibiotics for about a month, reflux improves or disappears in many children because they outgrow it. The lower the grade of reflux, the more likely it is to disappear. My niece also has this and she is now 4 and completely healthy! I couldn't leave this update without leaving a pic and a short video!

High School Musical 2 Premiere Party

Last night was the premiere of High School Musical 2 on the Disney Channel. We had 18 teens over to watch. We started the night by giving each person a new identity. They were either a character or actor from the movie. Their goal was to figure out who they were only asking yes or no questions. A half hour before show time we played HSM Trivia. The top 8 winners got to sit on the couches during the movie!

Here I am giving out the Trivia Questions
Here are the fans that wore HSM gear!
Jenna, the one on the left, actually made her shirt!
Watching the show!
Even Annabelle stayed up to watch.
She loved the dancing and music!

Scrapbooking and Crafts

The girls in the youth group love scrapbooking, but we never get the chance. So we decided we make this past Tuesday and all day Scrapbooking day! We had 8 girls show up and we got a lot done. We worked from 10 am until 4:30 pm. We had dinner and then went over to Vacation Bible School. It was a long but very profitable day!
