Monthly Milestones

Our little ladybug is 22 months old today! Here are some things she did in her 21st Month!
1. She knows what the word, "My" means and knows how to use it....my daddy, my Nemo, my book.

2. She is sneaky! Funny Story: I told her to go put her pacy into the crib after a nap one day. She walked over to the crib, put her arm through the slates and put her pacy in the crib or so I thought. She walked back over to me and her arm seemed funny, so I looked close and she had stuffed the pacy under her armpit and was trying to hide it from me. We have to watch this one!

3. She is so fast. When she runs we are literally running after her now!

4. She tries to sing songs even if she can't say all the words, she tries to repeat some of the song and even attempts to carry the tunes. She loves Jesus Loves Me, You are My Sunshine, Old Mac Donald, Veggie Tales theme song, and My Friends Tigger and Pooh theme song.

5. Her listening skills are improving. When we read familiar books to her she has started to fill in some of the words she knows are coming if we pause for her to say them. One of her favorite books to do this with is Peek a Who?

6. She likes to read on her own now. She knows how to hold the book correctly if it is given to her upside down and she talks as she flips the pages.

7. Her new favorite questions are, "What's this?" and "Why?" Tonight we were at wal-mart and as I got her out of the cart to go to the car she said, "Walk" and I told her, "no" and she said, "why?"

8. She is understanding emotions. I recently was in a car accident, don't worry everyone is OK, but Josh brought her to the scene and I was crying. As soon as she saw me, she started crying uncontrollably and wanted me. Of course, this made me cry even more. I held her for about 5 minutes before we both stopped crying.

9. She has learned to undress herself. Cindy told me one day at daycare she was taking her shirt off as fast as Cindy could put it back on! She is very good at taking off her jacket and if we are holding it putting it on.

Carpenter's Corn Maze

This week has been full of a lot of Fall activities for our family. It started on Wednesday night with taking the youth group to Carpenter's Corn Maze. It was really fun and of course everyone got lost, but it was really cold that night as you'll see from the pictures!

Enjoy!

ABC Wednesday -O

The challenge for ABC Wednesday this week was the letter O. I had a whole list of O's but no pictures to go with them. I talked to Josh about writing an "obituary" for Nemo, so he has decided to help me out. ABC Wednesday can be more than pictures, so I am taking creative liberties with this one.

Ode to Nemo
By Josh
(To the rhyme scheme of the Raven by Edgar Allan Poe)
Ah, distinctly I remember,
It was in the bleak September,
And each helpful pet store member, paced and scurried ‘cross the floor.
For we’d come to buy a Nemo,
Though unlikely it might seem-o,
(The U of M game set on Teevo), to make this our Saturday chore.

Little Annie squealed and giggled,
Out from my arms she wriggled,
And Nemo swam and wiggled, when he saw our bright-eyed gal,
“Nemo! Nemo!” she said excited,
When first that fish was sighted,
The fish was brightly lighted—orange and white from head to tail.

We bought him—it was late,
Took him home to acclimate,
Was he family, or bait? He looked shocked and forlorn,
We set him in a room,
Next to the chairs and broom,
Where he’d meet untimely doom, and from our hearts be torn.

One day the tank was greening,
And I knew it needed cleaning,
So I did so, gently gleaning nasty gunk from off the side,
Then replaced the decoration,
When I saw with some frustration,
That with little provocation, our small hermit crabs had died.

‘Twas not a week from hence,
That at Nemo’s expense,
(I won’t leave you in suspense) our new friend had followed suit,
He looked slightly askew,
When I looked up close I knew,
So we bid our friend adieu, and our pain was quite acute.

Nemo, we will miss you,
In our hearts we hug and kiss you,
And have used more than one tissue, mourning your untimely fate,
For our daughter’s heart you’ve broken,
Leaving nothing as a token,
But this poem so aptly spoken, will your memory relate.

Sauder's Village

You may not know this about me, but I am really fascinated by history, particularly the 18oos. I think it all began in 8th grade when I went to Old Bedford Village on a class field trip. I loved that time period and always thought it would have been so cool to live back then. So anytime I hear of a place like this I want to go. If you are faithful blog reader you might remember that Josh took me to Colonial Williamsburg for my 30th birthday in June.

That history brings me to Sauder's Village. Since we moved here I have wanted to go to Sauder's Village. We actually tried going for my birthday one year, but my birthday fell on a Monday and they are closed on Mondays! I was telling my friend, Sarah, at school who actually works there in the summer and she gave us two free admission tickets! Josh and I set yesterday aside as our day to go and let me tell you I was anxiously anticipating our trip! Can I just tell you my dream retirement job would be to work at one of these places! Thank you, Sarah!

By the way I hear there is a colonial place in MI, so that is next! What places have you been to that I can add to my list?

This is Sarah who gave us the tickets
Here is a video montage Josh made of our day!

Pumpkin Patch

Today I went with my friends, Deb, Gina, and Olivia to Kapnick Orchards. We had 6 kids between the four of us ranging from 9 to 7 weeks old! Today was the 3oth Annual Apple Festival at the orchard, so there were a lot of special things for the kids to do. They rode ponies, bounced in a bouncy castle, slid down a huge slide, went on a hay ride and enjoyed treats and cider. We could have picked apples from the orchard, but I think as mom's of young children none of us were very interested in doing that this time!

Here is Ashton, Deb's daughter, and Annabelle Riley, one of Gina's daughters, and Annabelle
Riley is Annabelle's age and they are best buds!
We have a lot of play dates with Leah and Riley.

This was Annabelle's favorite thing today
If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you can see how happy she is!

Here is a Smilebox of our day.
I am so bummed becuase I didn't get a pictures of Gina with her two girls. I emailed her to send me one from the day, I will post it as soon as I get it!

The Mosher's held their 1st Chili Cookoff this weekend. Josh thought I for sure had the winner with our Brett Farve Family Chili recipe. The winner was Deb who made a White Chicken Chili recipe! It was so good I even voted for it over my own. I got the recipe from her this morning at church and made it this afternoon. It was THAT good!

As many of you know, Annabelle has been running a fever for the past 3 days and she was such a trooper on Saturday. We went to the Chili Cookoff and then to our friend's, Cory and Deb, house for dinner. Saturday made us thankful for good friends and family!
